Plant a Seed

Immediate Volunteer

Initially I was not able to attend the class ( Buddhist Beginner Class that organize by the BMSM Youth Section) but there is always a reason I was able to listen to the talk. The talk was delivered by Dato’ Dr Victor Wee, one of the founders of the Buddhism Class.

Honestly, I didn’t prepare myself for attending the course. However, I was prepared to become the volunteer in helping up and also an “amateur” photographer. The most important was not the photo section, it was the talk, the messages that delivered by the Speaker.

The Messages

It happen that I had the chance to listen to the dhamma talk while captured the class photos. Something really strikes me

“When we have a seed example a mango seed and we plant it. How many fruits will it produce by a single tree?” Asked by the speaker.

“Many!!!” All the students gave the same answered at the same time.

Many Fruits- Many Effects

Then only I realized if we had done an action, it will not only have one consequence. However, it will have many many different consequences. Just like the Mango Tree, one mango seed grow into a mango tree, the mango tree will come out a lot of mangos. So, I cannot always make assumption that the “action/ speech/ thought” will have “the only effect”. It will not turn out to be our expectation. There are a lot more unexpected things will happen.

Plant a Seed

From today on, when I start to plant a seed, I will not have any high expectation. The most important messages- avoid evil and do good because the action/ speech/ thought that we had did in the past will ripen in different ways. It might ripen immediately, in the present or in the future. So, plant a good seed without any hope and expectation, and it will grow a lot of fruits.
