Ways to Save Money for Newborn (Part 1)

Do you know how much you can save when you have your first child? i never anticipated it until i pregnant with my first child. We didn't know there were a lot of ways to save money for the baby until we have child. Based from my experience, there are few tips that i would like to share:

 1. write out a list

write out a list of item you wish to buy for your baby. You can get the list from your family members, relatives or friends. Ask them for advice before purchase anything for the baby. There are many websites provide the list like: http://www.babycenter.com.my/baby/buyingforbaby/knowhow/whatyoureallyneed/, http://www.todaysparent.com/pregnancy/giving-birth/newborn-essentials-checklist

 2. do survey before purchase the items

go survey to compare the price before you really buy the item. We did that but still not the cheapest one. You can go to the "mom and baby expo" to survey. Nowadays there are 3-4 exhibition per year for us to survey and compare. Warehouse sales will be the best especially " My dear warehouse sale", every 3-4 month they will have warehouse sale.

 3. get secondhand item or borrow

We managed to get some secondhand items from our family members and friends. It really help us to save a lot. Ask around people who has baby stuffs would like to give away. We have friends wanted to throw away some baby stuffs like toys, baby walker, sarong( hammock)and baby carrier. Even though we didn't really use some of the item but it will come as handy when you need it.

Beside that, you can borrow some item from your family members. We borrowed newborn cloths from my brother and returned after my baby could not wear it anymore. The baby walker that we collected already share with 2 families including us and the walker going to lend to another family. ( It is not advisable to use baby walker because there are a lot of accident happen by tripping over, strangle with the string and so on. Supervised when you want to use baby walker, don't leave the baby unattended. Please don't put the baby on walker too long because it will delay the baby milestones)
